Shot during one day at the Rubens Castle in Zemst. In October '23 Meskerem and I had the privilege to stay for a few days at this beautiful location. Stories Unfold, an experimental festival residing there only had one demand which was to create something out of the inspiration the place was providing us.

We just started filming without a script and let the surroundings guide us, during the editing sessions we started to see that we've captured the process of creating something. The painter in the film is inspired by her surroundings just as we were filming the short film. Gagasan translates as "The Idea".

 

Meskerem Mees en Roel Vermeer also composed and recorded the music featured in the short film on location during our week of stay. The short film premiered at "Het Rubenshuis" Antwerp as part of the Rubens x sessions and can be discovered by it's visitors on loop.
